The hard techniques basically are Japanese traditional aspects of Karate-Do. The techniques include stances, kicks, punches, blocks, breathing, kata, and practice fighting.
This style is not a tournament or kick boxing system. We do not limit our training because of rules and regulations found in sport karate. We teach our students to use all available skills to win in a self-defense confrontation; no techniques barred.
MKR Karate, not being a sport like tennis, baseball, or football, etc. is an art form. Thus, it is mostly practiced alone, away from the school. The student may still learn, with practice only at the school, but at a slower rate. It takes a combination of the two for the student to
progress at the normal rate. The student may learn karate by devoting only 15% to 20% of their time at the school, but must rely on self-determination to train at home to progress normally.
Karate training will assist the student in developing self-determination, strong willpower, self-esteem, concentration, self-discipline, and the ability to better cope with stress (even kids have stress).
The teaching of any martial art has potential to be misused and do great harm. Our responsibility to the student includes the teaching of martial arts etiquette, respect for others, the development of self-esteem, confidence, humility, and the proper use of the arts of self-defense.
